Thirteen young graphic designers from La Chaux-de-Fonds School of Applied Arts and from College of arts and applied arts in Belgrade were invited to participate together in one week workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds where they were asked to create prints/designs inspired by the works of eight writers from Switzerland and Serbia.

Each writer who have been chosen for the project presented different period and style, from romanticism, through period of modernity to contemporary style of today’s authors. Using this material as a starting point created opportunity for participants to meet and to understand better culture and history of other country.

Creating with universal tools of graphic design language such as : shape, sign, pattern and typography (letters) participants were encouraged to experiment and to unfold a meaning of texts from a new perspective. The aim was to explore possible ways of communicating ideas, and emotions of written words making visual analogies. In the end of the workshop participants of each group were asked to produce folding object containing the work they made during the week. Unfolding that object visitors of exhibition would discover little by little creations of workshop participants and a story about the writers and their work.
